Digestion of nutrients in the body

Fat - breakdown starts in the small intestine, bile is released from the gallbladder into the intestine enzymes finished the digestion process in the small intestine and pancreas. This process takes 4-6 hours. Protein - Begins the breakdown in the stomach with pepsin enzymes, finishes in the small intestine. This process takes 3-4 hours. This is one of the reasons athletes load with carbs before a sports event, its the quickest energy release foods with the lowest amount of fat.
